The Cook Islands consist
of 15 islands scattered over 2,2 million kmē , in the middle of the Pacific,
between the kingdom of Tonga in the west and French Polynesia
(Tahiti) in the east.
The timezone is the same
as on Hawaii.
19.000 people are
living on these islands.
The Cook Islands have a local government in free association with New
Zealand.
The
islands consist of 2 main groups.
In the southern group there are 9 relatively high islands of volcanic
origin.
In the northern group there are 6 atols.
Unfortunately, we
only visited 3 islands.
Aitutaki and Atiu were the nicest we've ever been so far.
